Two months before shutdown in 2020 I began to work with the Durga Gayatri Mantra, using the recording below. I played this in the morning hours gradually singing along, learning slowly. This method of memorization takes a long time, but it can really stay with you.
I produced Durga Protection at the end of 2022 from memory of the mantra. I practiced with the mantra well into late 2020, leaving the recording and singing on my own after it was memorized. The melody in this recording varies from what I learned, the mantra spontaneously came up and out as a final layer on top of the music and seed vocals.
I looked up the word prachodayat as it arises in the mantra. It means to move something forward.
I am relearning and re-listening, re-reading like its the first time. Also, there are more recordings of it to hear. There is always something to learn and refine. At the end of the process I’ll record more iterations. Â
I opened to the image of the divine feminine in order to support growth in my conscious mind. Refining, simplifying, balancing, earthing, subtlety, continuity, fluidity, and infinity. I bow to these great qualities in us all.Â
